Meet www.GeneticsWorks.com, a new member of the www.AlgorithmWorks.com Community of Mentoring Communities.

It's starting off its new life pointing to the BioInformatics, Genomics & Pharma board on AlgorithmWorks.  Specifically, here: http://informaticsworks.com/index.php?board=3.0 and you may have figured out that www.AlgorithmWorks.com itself is forwarded to our forum on www.InformaticsWorks.com.  The architecture is admittedly a bit complicated.  (If you're into conventional architecture you should visit www.LandmarkTv.com.)

xx How not to die - article by Yahoo Stores and Ycombinator inventor Paul Graham
October 09, 2008, 01:20:21 PM by combinator

      http://www.paulgraham.com/die.html

How not to die is a thought provoking piece in title and concept.  Written in two hours by Paul Graham, an expert on micro-finance and micro-entrepreneurship, it observes economic survival in the hardscrabble world of Internet startups.  It may just be the formula we need to rebuild our production base in the Information Age.

If it had been written on the back of an envelope an economic analogy with the Gettysburg Address would not be out of line.

Those who would rebuild the production base of the Information Age and who still believe in Yankee Ingenuity applaud Mr. Graham's fighting spirit.

Editor's Note:  You may ask yourself "How did I get here?"
Our economy got to where it is today (10.09.2008) in the complete opposite way you get to Carnegie Hall.  Neglect.  Neglect.  Neglect.  While fiduciaries and legislators snoozed at the switch, or worse, the "peace dividend" which ought to have been plowed into our production base was vaporized in financial industry machinations and hidden fees while our industrial base was expeditiously dismantled for export.

Like Japan re-building after WW II, we survivors of WW III (The Cold War) must now look to leaders like W. Edwards Deming and Paul Graham for the formula to rebuild out of Cold War ashes.  Our need for infrastructure leadership is great and there is much to do:

As to how you got to this page, we think the subject matter is of such critical importance, that from time to time, we may point domains such as www.SurvivorWorks.com and www.StartUpWorks.com directly to this content.

xx Op-ed:700 Billion Here, 700 Billion There, Pretty Soon You're Talking Real Money
      September 29, 2008, 10:00:41 PM by combinator
Senator Dirksen may never have uttered the remark famously attributed to him ("A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you're talking real money") but he is reported to have developed such a fondness for the association that he never publicly denied it.

T Boone Pickens' testimony in the Dirksen Senate Office Building about energy alternatives before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in Washington, DC on July 22, 2008 honors the memory and fighting spirits of past Senate leaders such as Dirksen, Proxmire and Scoop Jackson.

The thrust of the Pickens Plan is to use home-grown American sources of alternative energy to reduce the U.S. dependency on foreign oil which flows from the American economy to (often hostile) foreign producers at a rate of 700 Billion dollars per year, perhaps never to return, or even worse, to return in the form of weapons aimed literally at our Armed Forces and figuratively at the heart and soul of America. 700 Billion this year, 700 Billion next year, 700 Billion the year after that! It makes the one-shot Wall Street credit crunch financial fix/bailout/buy-in look like a relatively smaller problem.

Where is the Senate leadership on this issue in the Election Year of 2008? Keep your eye on the Gang of 20, keep your aspirations high, but prepare also for disappointment. These ten Democrats and ten Republicans have at least articulated a desire to lead on Alternate Energy policy. But money talks, talk is cheap and (s)he who laughs last laughs loudest. So, while the Good Old Boys and the Good Old Girls in the Millionaires Club know as the U.S. Senate congratulate themselves on having put out the fire burning on Wall Street, remember that it's T Boone Pickens who remains <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/wb9KMnzzAII&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/wb9KMnzzAII&rel=0</a> with his hand firmly on the tiller.

700 billion here. 700 billion there. Pretty soon, you're talking real money. The www.LibertyIsGreen.com Community, The www.BankingWorks.com Community and the www.EconomicsWorks.com Community want to know if any Presidential Candidate is listening?
